About Skirmish for Safety:

In a historically male dominated hobby we feel it is our duty to act as allies and active participants in the prevention of interpersonal violence. On that note this event’s proceeds are going to support The Urban Resource Institute, who recently acquired our previous recipient The Center Against Domestic Violence.  This donation will be earmarked for their domestic violence shelter programs, which have grown to the largest in New York State.

For more than 38 years, URI has been developing innovative programs to improve the lives of vulnerable populations, with a particular focus on survivors of domestic violence. We help individuals and families escape abuse, safely heal, and gain the resources needed to live healthy, independent lives. We are also the only organization in New York City, and one of the few nationally, that extends these services to pets. Other programs support homeless families, provide housing and supported employment opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Hope to see you there!

Event Details:

In celebration of the upcoming final (ha-ha) Star Wars saga film and the release of the Epic Missions, this year’s Skirmish for Safety will be a good-guys-vs.-bad-guys cross-era showdown. That’s right: this tournament will be exactly like Rise of Skywalker (spoiler alert?).

There will be four teams of three players representing the heroes or the villains. Two teams will be Republic/Rebels/Resistance and two teams will be CIS/Empire/First Order.

Each player is responsible for bringing a 300-point Epic list containing at least one huge ship. In the first round, each player will face one of their opposites (e.g. Rebels vs. Empire) in a 90-minute “Passing Engagement” scenario (p. 21 of the Epic Battles rulebook).

In round two, players will face the other player with their opposite faction in a 90-minute “Atmospheric Entry” scenario (p. 20 of the Epic Battles rulebook). The attacking and defending teams will be determined by initiative.

For the final round, the hero team with more wins with play the villain team with more wins in a 180-minute three-on-three “Cover the Evacuation” scenario. The hero and villain teams with fewer wins will also play each other. For both matches, the teams with the most wins in rounds one and two is the “attacking team” for the scenario.

For the final round, teams will have to collaborate ahead of the tournament on a final 500-point list featuring at least one huge ship and at least 150 points from each faction.

Players will register as individuals, not as teams. Faction and team registration will be done on a first-come, first-served basis via the NYC X-Wing Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/events/3050398411851513
