Every competition will have its own unique model or painting restrictions you must abide by. For this first competition, the theme is - New Kid on the Block - paint a model that was released in 2023. Models must be on 50mm or smaller bases, and no larger then 5” in any dimension
Submission period ends February 1st, and judging ends Feb 11th.
At the end of the submission period, entries must be placed in the glass display cabinet. Please label the miniature with your name on the bottom of the base.
After the submission period ends, there will be a judging period. Please leave your models in the display cabinet during the judging period, but feel free to grab them when you are playing a game! Judging will be a combination of public vote, and judge vote. Judges will be selected by prior experience judging miniature painting competitions and painting skill. Winners of previous painting competitions will be offered a seat as a judge on the next competition. Judges may not compete themselves. 1st, 2nt, and 3rd place will be chosen, and the winners will be displayed. Everyone can collect their models, but the podium winners will be allowed to remain in the display cabinet until the owner takes it back, or the next competition begins. Prizes may be given
Winners will have their name placed on a plaque in the Carcosa club.
For the public vote, there will be a google form, where anyone (Carcosa members AND guests) can vote on a scale of 1-5 how well each miniature is painted.
Judges will rate each model in 3 categories: Color palette, Technical skill, and Creativity & X Factor.
The Weight of the judges vote will depend on how many judges are currently serving. For example, if there is one judge, and 25 public votes. Each model gets judged on 3 categories, then those scores are multiplied by 3, so essentially the judges decision for each model will carry the weight of 9 public votes. The top 3 will be determined by the highest overall score. Judges will decide tiebreakers by choosing who best fit the theme.
