The Association Cup is a stand alone, single-elimination challenge open to all teams at any level of NYCBBL competition - including retired teams who want one more chance for glory! The winner receives the penultimate honor of etching their name and team onto the perpetual cup trophy, which they can claim as their own until the next cup tournament. (In real-world terms, this event replicates the FA cup, the oldest national football competition in the world, but with the trophy tradition of the Stanley Cup. Please feel free to toast your victory with a drink from the cup.)

Eligibility:

Any team that has previously completed a match in a NYCBBL on Tourplay and paid the corresponding league dues is welcome to sign up to compete in the Association Cup!

(Teams may be inactive from prior seasons or actively participating in current rookie or veteran leagues)

Teams must have completed their most recent redraft, if applicable.

Coaches must register in advance with their teams via Tourplay as well as purchase an event ticket via the Carcosa website.

Fee:

Cup fee is $15 for members and $25 for non-members. Cup fees include complementary enrollment in the Fall 2024 rookie season.

Format:

8 or 16-player single elimination tournament (Up to four rounds, depending on sign ups)

Tie breaker is PENALTY SHOOT OUT! (Printed rules for this will be shared.)

If eliminated, coaches are welcome to stay and play ad-hoc Fall Rookie League games.

All matches played and recorded via Tourplay, paper records as needed if an outage occurs.

Rules:

All standard NYCBBL rules are in place for the cup games with the following exceptions:

Glittering prizes will be awarded for the top 4 teams.

No re-draft is triggered at the end of the cup.

Mega Stars are not available for the cup.

This means that you record SPP, level up players, record injuries (and deaths!) as normal league games. High risks for high rewards!

Matching:

A single-elimination bracket will be built randomly. There are no seeds in this event!
