Carcosa Marvel: Crisis Protocol Slow Grow 2023
Hey Carcosans, we’ll be running our first Marvel: Crisis Protocol slow grow league beginning on March 18th.
For anyone who has never slow grown before, it pretty much meant to do what it says on the box—give players an outlet to learn the game/start a new force and slowly grow it along with the rest of the group. So, whether you’re a new player looking to check out MCP or an existing one looking to start and/or add onto a force, this is for you. The rules are free and can be found in pdf form here.
The league will run for 8 weeks and culminate with a three-round tournament (date TBD).
To make buy-in a bit less daunting, we’ll be running the league as a “three-box challenge,” which means that you may only use models from the core set and an additional three character boxes of your choice (affiliation boxes either can count as 2 choices or can replace the core box. However, if you replace the core box you also forego the use of any core box tactics cards). Note that the number of characters in a given box is immaterial (beyond the affiliation box exception), so a box with one model, say Hulk, is treated exactly the same as a box with two models, say blade and moon knight, for the purpose of the league restriction, so choose those single big fellas wisely.
Please note that these restrictions also apply to tactics cards—you can only use the ones that came in your chosen boxes and the core set. Since crisis cards were recently updated and many in boxes will be outdated, when it comes time for players to use them in week 4 of the league, all are available to choose (proxying is again totally fine for this purpose). PDFs of the crisis cards are available here.
There is no requirement that you purchase the core set if you’re not interested in the affiliations therein. However, note that, being an Asmodee game, MCP uses propriety dice and movement tools. These are available for purchase separately if you don’t want to buy the core set. The core set tactics cards can still be used via proxying even if you don’t physically purchase a core set.
Any questions or concerns should be directed to Dave L. on discord or at DaveLenok@Gmail.com.
*NOTE* The point of these restrictions is to keep folks on an somewhat even playing field while keeping buy-in cost low—not to exclude people who are interested in participating from doing so or from using the models they want to use. If you want to play a faction—like sentinels—that doesn’t fit as neatly into these restrictions as others, contact me directly and we can work something out (allowing an additional box for example). We’d rather have you play with tweaked restrictions than stick to the letter of the law and have otherwise interested folks sit out.

An image must be posted to the Hobby Hangout discord channel to count.

2 more points if you play 18 total league games
